Bienvenidos a Yakima!
TYCA-Pacific Northwest invites you to its annual conference at Yakima Valley Community College on October 21 – 22, 2005. Yakima is a city of approximately 70,000 located in arid and agricultural Central Washington. By the time you arrive in October, harvest of two of Yakima’s most well-known crops—apples and grapes—will be complete, and we hope you’ll take some time to enjoy the fruits of our harvest, either by visiting the Farmer’s Market (on Sundays in downtown Yakima) or by visiting some of the many wineries located in our valley along I-82 between Prosser and Yakima. In addition to agriculture, Yakima is well known for its 300+ days of sunshine. We recommend these restaurant and entertainment options. Directions to Yakima Valley Community College
From I-82, take Exit 34 (Nob Hill Blvd./Moxee). Head west on Nob Hill Blvd. Pass through four stop lights (Fairgrounds, 1st St., 3rd Ave., 10th Ave.). Turn right on 12th Avenue to park. For further directions, we recommend you use Mapquest with the address below.

Registration is located in the Deccio Building (off 12th Avenue) near the Parker Room. All conference activities will take place at Hopf Student Union Building (HUB) or in the Deccio Higher Education Center. It is recommended that you park in the blue pay lot north of Anthon (“A” on the campus map), the purple metered visitor parking lot (“E” on the campus map) south of the Deccio Higher Education Building, or the pink faculty lot (“G” on the campus map) east of the Hopf Student Union Building. The majority of the activities outside eating, wine tasting, and possibly the key note address will take place in the Deccio Building. Lot A is accessible from Arlington, and Lots E and G are accessible from 12th Avenue. Security will not be ticketing these lots during the conference. Please do not park in the reserved stalls east of the library.
Hotel Reservations
Out-of-towners may stay at the Clarion Hotel in Yakima, 1507 North First St. (509) 248-7850. We encourage you to stay both Friday and Saturday nights to take advantage of the local color and flavor. Rates are $60 per night for either a double or a single occupancy, and a complementary hot-cooked breakfast is included in the price.
Please register by Oct. 10, 2005, to get the conference rate. We have 40 rooms reserved. The hotel will provide shuttle service both to and from campus, as well as from the airport, to the hotel, and back again.
